This silver/oxygen-free copper is used as the commutator material in motors for automobiles. This material is produced by adding 0.03 to 0.2% of silver to oxygen-free copper. The silver provides excellent wear-resistance while retaining the superior electrical conductivity of oxygen-free copper demanded of commutator material. Dual gauge copper strip is also available.
