Hitachi Cable's AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX now supports the N902iL FOMA(R)/wireless LAN dual terminal
Hitachi Cable announces AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX*1 support for NTT DoCoMo's N902iL FOMA(R)*2/wireless LAN dual terminal (N902iL hereafter).
Hitachi Cable has offered package solutions for small and mid-sized offices, integrating AquaVocal, FOMA(R)/wireless LAN dual terminals, wireless-LAN access points, and other devices. With demonstrated support for N902iL, AquaVocal users will now be offered the N902iL FOMA(R)/wireless LAN dual terminal in these solutions packages, instead of the N900iL. These new solutions packages will be commercially available from June 13, 2007.
In recent years, falling prices and the advancing functionality of data communication networks have led to rapid growth in IP telephony systems, creating growing demand for dual-use terminals that can be used as mobile phones outside the office and as wireless IP phones inside the office via the company's wireless LAN. But for small and mid-sized offices, the introduction of dual-use terminals has posed problems involving high initial cost and depreciation burdens.
The AquaVocal single-unit all-in-one IP-PBX manufactured and sold by Hitachi Cable provides a wide array of functions*3 for fully implementing IP telephony systems in small and mid-sized offices of 200 users or less, allowing sites to introduce an IP telephony system at modest cost. Hitachi Cable has provided solutions packages for small and mid-sized offices since June 2006, integrating AquaVocal, FOMA(R)/wireless LAN dual terminals, wireless-LAN access points, and other devices to allow small and mid-sized offices to take advantage of AquaVocal and introduce dual-use terminals easily.
AquaVocal users will now be offered the N902iL FOMA(R)/wireless LAN dual terminal in these solutions packages, instead of the N900iL. Sales of the new package are slated to begin June 13, 2007.
Hitachi Cable's solutions packages for small and mid-sized offices are available by numbers of users (20, 50, or 100). Each package includes an AquaVocal unit, licenses for the corresponding number of users, an Apresia *4 Ethernet switch, wireless LAN access points from Aruba Networks, Inc., and a selection of handset terminals to match the working styles of the users at the site in question. In addition to the N902iL, customers can select Hitachi Cable's WirelessIP5000 wireless IP phones and fixed-line IP phones from SAXA, Inc.
Although costs depend on the actual combination of terminals and numbers of access points, prices for systems including wireless LAN access points start at approximately 500,000 yen.*5
The solutions packages will be sold via Hitachi Infonet Co., Ltd. and Hitachi Mobile Co., Ltd.
By pursuing further progress in linking the AquaVocal system to IP phones and IP telephony applications, Hitachi Cable intends to expand its share of the IP-PBX market for small and mid-sized offices.
