AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX to support wireless LAN-compatible E02SA au mobile phone provided by KDDI, including support for enterprise IP telephony services
*All products of AquaVocal series will end sales on June 30th of 2009.
Hitachi Cable, Ltd. announces that its AquaVocal *1 all-in-one IP-PBX *2 will support the E02SA wireless LAN-compatible au mobile phone provided by KDDI Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Chairman: Tadashi Onodera, KDDI hereafter), with sales to begin December 1, 2006. This coming spring, AquaVocal will also launch support for KDDI Hikari Direct and KDDI-IP Phone, KDDI's enterprise IP telephony services.
In recent years, falling prices and the advancing functionality of data communication networks have led to rapid growth of IP telephony services. Demand has increased for wireless LAN-compatible mobile phones, which can be used as mobile phones outside company sites and as wireless LAN-based wireless IP phones on site. However, most IP-PBX products supporting wireless LAN-compatible mobile phones have targeted large sites of 500 to 1,000 users or more. The cost and depreciation associated with these systems has impeded adoption by small- and mid-size offices.
Recently, Hitachi Cable confirmed the interoperability between its AquaVocal all-in-one IP-PBX and KDDI's E02SA wireless LAN-compatible mobile phone. AquaVocal is a single-unit all-in-one IP-PBX providing numerous functions *3, designed for users who want to introduce IP telephony services to small- or mid-size office sites of 200 or fewer users. The E02SA is a wireless LAN-compatible mobile phone that can be used as an au mobile phone off the company site and as a wireless LAN-based extension phone on site. By combining AquaVocal and E02SA, small- and mid-size offices can easily introduce wireless LAN-compatible mobile phone systems. Clients already using AquaVocal can also use E02SA by upgrading the AquaVocal firmware *4*5
From the coming spring, AquaVocal will also provide support for KDDI Hikari Direct and KDDI-IP Phone, enterprise IP telephony services provided by KDDI. KDDI Hikari Direct is an IP telephony service providing high QoS in communication based on fiber optic lines provided by KDDI as access lines and a backbone of high-quality IP networks. Users can move to the IP telephony service using the same telephone number they currently use in the office. Combined with E02SA, it provides functions for automatically sending calls to E02SA when the user is unable to answer the extension phone because he or she is off-site. This function makes it possible to provide the E02SA with the phone number of the client calling without alteration in the transfer process. AquaVocal support for KDDI's enterprise IP telephony services will help companies introduce these IP telephony services !) not just at major sites like headquarters, but at smaller sites, including branch and sales offices. Combined with the E02SA, AquaVocal allows users to introduce convenient, wireless LAN-compatible mobile phone solutions.
AquaVocal is primarily sold through Hitachi Cable sales partners, including Hitachi Infonet Co., Ltd. Hitachi Cable plans to continue promoting the integration of AquaVocal with various IP telephone devices and applications to expand its market share for small- and mid-size office IP-PBX systems.
