The Hitachi Cable Group provides a wide range of products and services such as information networks devices, network integration, and antenna systems for mobile phone base stations and terrestrial digital broadcasting to support the foundations of a prosperous and comfortable information society.

Business targeting telecommunications carriers
Broadband networks, which make it possible to send and receive large volumes of data such as video images smoothly and enable convenient Internet use, teleconferencing, and other applications, have become essential infrastructure elements not just for business use but for home use. Many of the telecommunications carrier high-speed networks serving as backbone for these broadband services use Hitachi Cable's Apresia 6000/8000/18000 series of Ethernet switches and its Gigabit Ethernet multiplex long-distance transmission device.

Restructuring of the information network integration business
Effective July 1, 2007, the Hitachi Cable Group consolidated its information network integration business in Hidec Systems Co., Ltd., renaming the entity Hitachi Cable Networks, Ltd. Under this name, it will play a central role in the Group's network integration business as a leading one-stop total network solution provider based on the foundations of networks, security, visual communication, and total management services.

Wireless and mobile communication field
Mobile phones have penetrated into every aspect of our lives. Wireless LAN systems make it possible to access the Internet in a wide range of locales, such as inside public facilities. The infrastructure supporting these mobile modes of communication consists of relay base stations and access points installed in various locations within their service areas.
Hitachi Cable's lineup of products includes products essential to building networks of relay base stations and access points for mobile phones and wireless LAN networks, based on high-frequency and wireless technologies, providing antenna systems for mobile phone base stations, wireless LAN systems, and various devices and supplies for use in these systems.
Broadcasting field
Terrestrial digital broadcasting makes possible high-definition programming, data broadcasting, and bidirectional services through connection with viewers via the Internet and other means. Traditional analog broadcasting will cease in Japan in July 2011, and aggressive construction of digital relay stations is projected to proceed into the future.
Hitachi Cable supports development of the infrastructure for terrestrial digital broadcasting by providing products such as low side-lobe flat receiver antennas that enable single-frequency network (SFN)* relay, power cables for broadcast use, and its ultra-wideband stacked loop antennas, which cover the entire UHF spectrum using just two types of antennas.
In addition, Hitachi Cable plans to provide retransmitting systems as a solution for areas unable to otherwise receive terrestrial digital broadcasting signals.
