With continual reduction in the size, thickness, and cost of electronic equipment, there is a corresponding shift in the connection materials used within these devices, from wires and cables to various circuit board materials. However, high-performance wires and cables are still used in the many areas that demand high reliability, noise immunity, and flexibility. This issue deals with wire/cable technologies that are currently playing important roles in the increasing sophistication of today’s electronic devices.
