| In addition to restricting access, another key step in rigorous system management is identifying the users by log tracking. But monitoring network usage status manually imposes huge burdens on the network administrator, due to the sheer volume of data. This is one of the major difficulties with implementing the required countermeasures against unauthorized access. In response, Hitachi Cable has developed a log analysis tool called NALogManager, which provides an integrated tool for analyzing and managing the massive access logs issued by Apresia. NALogManager lets the network administrator immediately identify who has accessed the in-house network at which terminal using which port of which switch, as well as identifying the IP address used for access and the duration and start and end times for access. This tool also prevents unauthorized connection to the in-house network by notifying the administrator of potential problems - for example, when connections are made via unregistered terminals (MAC address) or when authentication fails. |
