| The initial cost of IP-PBX/SIP servers is now not less than several million yen, which makes it considerably difficult for small- to medium-sized businesses to build IP telephony environments. This is because most of the IP-PBX/SIP servers available today are intended for larger offices of 500 to 1,000-plus users. To allow more customers to build IP telephony environments, Hitachi Cable created the AquaVocal series, middle-range IP-PBX/gateways suitable for small- to medium-sized offices of up to 200 users. |
 |
| The AquaVocal series consists of the "PRI gateway," "IP-PBX," and "IP-PBX with PSTN gateway" models, each of which houses various functions in its compact form factor. Other major features include Web-style interfaces for function settings, and outstanding maintainability features such as a flash memory backup for quick recovery in case of trouble. By combining AquaVocal products with the necessary functions, you can flexibly tailor the system to fill a wide range of needs, from use of IP phones with an external line preserving the existing PBX telephone network, to partial introduction of IP telephony, to full introduction of IP telephony. It is possible to minimize investment costs when phasing in an IP telephony environment. Even if you introduce AquaVocal products to be used exclusively as gateways, you can subsequently add IP-PBX functions through software upgrades. You can also cope with office expansion through software upgrades and/or the addition of new components. |

| Compared to analog phones, which have more than a century of history, IP telephony is quite a newcomer. However, considering how rapidly new communication technologies such as the Internet and mobile phones developed within the past decade, today's highly convenient and economical IP phones/IP wireless phones are sure to see widespread use. |
