Special-section dual-gauge copper strips

With the expansion of applications for LEDs has come a growing need for "surface-mount" LEDs more compact than conventional "shell-type" LED devices. Typically, a surface-mount LED has a flat copper strip on which to mount a chip. However, in order to cope with issues of higher heat generation accompanying the increased intensity of LED chips, manufacturers have been seeking a frame material with better heat-radiating performance. The focus is now directed to a dual-gauge strip whose uneven surface acts as a heat sink.
Hitachi Cable is providing customers worldwide with leadframe materials for power transistors and ICs as a leading manufacturer of semiconductor dual-gauge strips. We developed a revolutionary MGR rolling method which allows significantly faster processing than conventional V-Mill method, and enables us to supply high-quality dual-gauge strips at lower cost and with shorter lead times. Making full use of these "homegrown" technologies and our expertise, we have succeeded in mass producing a "special-section dual-gauge copper strip" which has received much attention recently (it can also be used for power LED frames). We are proposing that this product is the best surface-mount LED frame material for high-intensity white LEDs for use in general lighting and automobile headlights, and are providing samples to major domestic and foreign manufacturers.
