Environmental Accounting

Shown below is the current status of the costs of environmental conservation activities performed at Hitachi Cable Group's domestic sites as well as the economic and environmental conservation effects.
The scale of the total environmental conservation costs was nearly the same as that of the previous year. R&D costs for eco-friendly products had a tendency to increase, and in FY2009, increased by 8%, but the impact of reduced production volumes at works led to reduced waste disposal costs, etc., and in total, the costs leveled off. Investments decreased, when compared with FY2007 and FY2008. This is because measures to convert fuel to city and LNG gas were taken mostly in these two years, resulting in fewer investments in fuel conversion in FY2009.
