Information Security

In order to prevent the leakage or unauthorized use of any information, including not only documents and electronic data, but also know-how owned personally by employees, the Hitachi Cable Group takes a comprehensive range of measures, including hardware and software countermeasures, improvement of control rules and education of individual employees, making thorough efforts to establish and maintain the information security control system.

Information security management system

Our Group sets forth various regulations and rules regarding information security and personal information, including "Information Security Basic Policies" and "Hitachi Cable Personal Information Protection Policies" and ensures that every employee is familiar with them.
In promoting the information security management system, the Information Security Committee has been established since FY2005. The committee has been engaged in such activities as the establishment of rules and systems to properly manage internal and external important information, including personal information in addition to the provision of educational tools.

Information security education and awareness-raising activities

Hitachi Cable focuses its efforts on a wide range of educational and awareness-raising activities, including information security education through e-learning for the employees of Hitachi Cable and its domestic and overseas Group companies.
In order to further enhance information security awareness among all Group employees, the company has designated February as "Information Security Month" since FY2009 and conducts education and awareness-raising activities about in-house rules related to information security and reviews of information management conditions. In FY2009, using in-house company media we transmitted messages from the CIO (Chief Innovation Officer), opened a page on the Intranet related to the Information Security Committee, and compiled/made public an Internet version of the "Information Security Handbook" and other information necessary to put information security into practice.

Strengthening information security management

In order to reduce the risk of information leakage, the Hitachi Cable Group has made efforts to strengthen information security management, including domestic and overseas Group companies and business partners.
In FY2009, we established a Group Data Center to strengthen physical security and, with regard to employees, conducted deletion of business data stored in personally owned computers and external storage media as well as awareness-raising of theft of computers taken out of the office. In addition, in all departments a security operation self-check, internal computer inventory and security countermeasure situations were carried out. For overseas Group companies, the company conducted information security checks of six companies in China while implementing an "Information Security Survey" among business partners.
